I haven't been using a Mac for too long, so apologies if this issue has been done and dusted more than once, but my experience with the Mighty Mouse (wired and wireless) has been all negative. Is this the general consensus, or are there savvy Mac users who will choose a Mighty Mouse instead of a similarly priced Logitech or Microsoft mouse? I would prefer to use the Apple-style mouse that matches the rest of the hardware, but in this case it is not worth it.

The general consensus is that there isn't a general consensus. Generally you will find almost as many who completely agree with you as those who completely disagree and have had the entirely opposite experience. It is personal preference. I myself go back and forth between using my mm and my logitech every few months. So I suppose that means I am on the fence, a rare spot for me for sure.

I have 4 of them. I love them and I find it hard to use other mice. The Mighty Mouse is the best mouse I have ever used.
The only drawback is that they are somewhat inacurrate with right clicks. But that is only in the beginning, they seem to get better over time (or you do).

[edit] I thought of some more things that I like: The 1 battery operation, the optical tracking (you can use it on anything), the side buttons for Expose, the On/Off switch is great (I mean the placement) and the battery life is phenomenal (like 11 months). I will also tell you that I hated it for the fist little while. I have grown to love it.

The tiny scroll ball gets stuck all the time. Other than that I like them.

I really like mine, but it's worth checking this [current] thread for more on the topic of the scroll ball.

I would have to agree with baseballboy on this one. The ball gets some dirt and grime in it over time and gets a little jittery and catchy. I love the mouse as far as everything else goes. Every now and then, I will have to turn it off and back on again because it will lose the Bluetooth signal with my Mac (not sure why though). But I really do love the thing... makes video and audio editing a sinch...

I thought the scroll ball was great. It was very responsive and the omnidirectional capability was quite handy. But - notice the past tense - I now have a Logitech MX Revolution. I couldn't get used to right-clicking on the Mighty Mouse and the side buttons were not comfortable for me to use. I also like the Logitech's extra buttons for browser back/forward, quick search, etc. You can customize the buttons quite a bit and the general feel of the mouse works well for me. Another great feature is the scroll wheel. You can use it in 'free scroll' mode where you can spin it quickly to scroll through long docs, web pages, etc. Or you can switch to a clicking mode that gives more precise control.
That being said, I agree with divigation. This is a very personal choice.

I agree with Gadget Coma on this. I much prefer my Logitech mouse over my wired MM. It sits nicer in my hand and is just much more customisable. I'm not sure if mine does the free scroll thing tho, might have to check that out. I like how you can set up shortcuts for individual apps, I'm gonna try to set some up for PS and Illustrator to switch between my most used tools.
