So i have been searching the internet for weeks about spoilers on the Macbooks new casing. I've heard that it may be released in June but will it have the slick aluminum casing like the MBP?
I dont know about you guys but if it does then the choice between the MB and MBP is a no brainer for me. Especially since the price difference probably wont change. I love the casing in the MBP but the price is not all that attractive. If the MB had a similair casing then it would be even more popular then they already are and the MBP may not have such an amazing life ahead of it apart from the hardcore animators etc. Just a thought i wanted to share ![]() |

I think a lot of people would really love MacBooks with aluminum cases. Apple will sell a ton of them whenever they're released.

I kind of like the plastic (even though it's not as green). When I had my MBP, I was constantly scared that it would get scratched. I think the plastic hides wear pretty well - except for the palm rest.
Having said that, whatever is released, I will probably buy it and love it.

As for Aluminum, I think it would make a lot of sense given the move that the iMacs made. The MacBook is the last Apple device that has the white plastic... I guess it has to go sometime.

I would also argue that the Aluminum casing is better for wear and tear than the plastic. I have seen a lot of very badly damaged, well used, abused and otherwise non-pristine, older notebooks using both materials and the aluminum holds up far better overall without a doubt. Still, the MacBooks are far more durable than I thought they would be.

You know, I never even though of those! But you're right
I guess the white plastic on the Mini is very minimal though (only the top, right?). I think it suits the Express, Extreme, and Time Capsule better, personally. Although, I've yet to see anything like that in aluminum. Time will tell, I guess!
