Hi guys, I'm new to the forum, but find it very useful.

I'm finally ready to buy a Mac desktop. I've been on a PowerBook G4 for too long.

My friend told me to wait before buying a new system, because in June they're coming out with all new desktops... upgrades up the wazoo.. Has anyone heard this?

Do they usually release a new line after the developer's conference?

Just checking if the rumors are ture or not, if its worth waiting, cause I need a computer so bad!

thanks

It's possible Apple will release a new Mac Pro at or around the developer conference. If that's the machine you want, you may want to wait.

The DC is so close, it is certainly worth waiting. And then check out macrumors.com, under the Buyer's Guide tab, to get an excellent summary of product life cycle summaries and "expected" updates. It is all speculation, but has still been pretty reliable in its predictions.

Thanks guys, I've had it hard for so long with my PowerBook G4, that I guess I might as well wait.

For the last two years my screen has slowly stareted burning out, one vertical pixel line after another. I went from 7 lines that are burnt to over 150 - and kept working on it daily! needless to say I feel cramped as heck - but I can survive it out for another coupla weeks for some good news.

Thanks again I'll see what I find
