Amen to that! Exactly my plan. I definitely want to get in on the multi-touch love, but don't want to sell my firstborn every month for a phone. Now - if only you and I could get sponsors for our iPhone bills

You got it a little better than us in terms of data, being 700mb. I don't get it though - why aren't other countries (so far, Canada and Australia) going with the unlimited data plan.

Seriously how much browsing do you plan to do to go over 400MB? My housemate checked his usage over EDGE on his iPhone. Using it pretty much everyday he has used just under 200mb of data since January. I seriously think it would take a lot to go over that. Your usage is not going to be the same as a laptop, and if you use it at home it will be on WiFi. Maybe Matt (houltmac) can give an indication based on his usage.

What can I say? I do a lot of browsing. And sure, maybe I wouldn't go over 400mb (although I do think I would). But that's not really my main issue anymore. My point is that we're paying the same amount of money (compared to the US and AT&T) for much less service. To me, that's really unacceptable, especially since we had to wait over a year just to get the iPhone in Canada.

I guess one also has to take into consideration that this is a 3G iPhone, which is a lot faster for mobile browsing. Faster = more pages viewed = more bandwidth used.

iClarified - Apple News - Apple Punishes Rogers for High Rates

The link above is an article about Apple apparently agreeing with Canadians about Rogers' outrageous plans. The 42,000 signatures actually made a difference...somewhat. Apple is 'punishing' Rogers for the bad publicity by 'diverting' large quantities of iPhones to Europe and therefore forcing Rogers to fire part-time staff for the launch. LOL!

And on the "data" note...I don't care about how much data I'm getting a month, I'm not paying $60 a month like that's a good deal. If you're Rogers, don't you want to convert others using Bell, Telus, Virgin Mobile etc. to your company buy offering reasonable plans???

I think that the iPhone itself is the real draw to Rogers right now. Their thinking is probably along the lines of "we're the exclusive provider of this phone which everyone wants... we can rip them off and they'll still buy it!" And when you look at it, the other rates in Canada aren't that much better. That's half of what RuinediPhone is about now that it's been bought by OilChange (a marketing/media company). Canadians are shafted by lack of competition in the mobile market due to the government restrictions in this space. Less competition = higher prices and less value.

Who wants to move to Europe with me?
