Just curious how many others are going to be trading in version 1 for the newest iPhone, or buying the newest as a first iPhone, now that it is 3G capable.

I added an option for no because AT&T's data plan is too expensive right now! Plus I have a few months left on a Verizon contract.

02 contract is a little too expensive for me too. Plus i have a contract with Vodafone until December with a plan that i am very happy with.

Being that I got more from the original iPhone plan on o2 than I did with my previous o2 contract I was happy to move. I will be getting the new iPhone on the same o2 plan and get much more bang for my buck again. I am a happy shopper.

Unfortunately I'm still stuck in my stupid Vodafone contract. There's a chance my housemate might upgrade which means I might get his 1G iPhone and unlock it, but I'm not sure about it.

I am happy with my first gen with the new software. The 3G bandwidth is being restricted by AT&T and is a total ripoff. I don't care about GPS and I am raroly on the Edge network any how and when I am it works fine for mail and maps and the occasional Safari lookup. I will hope for a price drop in used/refurb 1st Gens to upgrade to a 16GB and give my girlfriend my 8GB, but otherwise I will stick with the iPhone that I have.

I want to tell you all that I have been waiting for the iphone for 3-4 months -- I finally decided to go get one and then wham they were not available -- then had to wait for the wwdc and the "announcement" now that that has come and gone the 11th fast approaches (not fast enough) and 10 days ago I decided to try the instinct to see if I could manage and get by with the good plan and so so phone that sprint, my long time carrier of the past 7 years has put out -- no such luck -- I CAVED and returned it today and now have to get used to the fact that I will be paying ATT about 140-160 a month for the next 2 years -- I could not get past the initial "wanting" of this fine piece of hardware I have been dying to get my hands on.....in regards to the insticnt -- it was NOT that bad a phone and the price for the plan was excellent BUT it was not the iPhone... the web experience was no good - it was the "fake web" and the camera was not taking clear pics... also it would stick at times when I tried to touch the screen to do something and it was shutting down after 60 seconds and I had to constantly turn the power on to do the next task or check something out -- there is more i could write but for now I am just wanting to say -- I cant wait to get my iphone -- I hope I am early enough to get it and I have learned that when a woman has her heart set on something everything else falls short.....
ATT You win.... now hurry up 11th.......

Thanks for the post about the "Instinct". I have been seeing pictures of it everywhere, especially on billboards in the airports. It looks like such a "knock-off" of the iPhone, I am surprised Apple isn't going after them. I have been very curious to hear how it performed. Very pleased to see the competition doesn't seem to be clearing the high bar that Apple has set. That is an expensive plan. You must buy a lot of minutes. OUch.

I'll be in line on the 11th too . . . can't wait

cool for both of us (friday soooon come)and you are welcome for the report I was able to give on the instinct -- it just doesnt compare if you have your heart set on the apple product -- now if the instinct would have come out way earlier and i had never heard of apple it would have been a different story.... its funny because the very next day after I gave my list of complaints to the hub he emailed me a link he found in the newspaper on someone who wrote a review about the instinct and complained about the same 6-7 things I did... it was wierd but I felt justified when the hub saw that....-- I just wish I could be a sponge like you real techies and just know all this stuff --I want a mac too but am not ready for that --I can hold my own and tread water on a PC but compared to you guys I am a babe here struggling for thepast 10 years to get in the tech world and really get "it"....

anyway -- I pray I get the phone friday -- I am only going to get to the ATT store at 7 for the 8am opening - the pnly other place is 60 miles away in louisville at the Apple store and i willnot take my chances burning the gas and possibly being number 200 inline and then being disspointed....- if its not meant to get it that day I will go back again and again till I do get it...
stay in touch -- god I cant wait till friday -- i told the manager of the att store "get me my darn I phone now"... he was laughing at me... too funny
