Hi

I bought my MBP in December 2006 with Pro care and the battery has since nearly worn out, it lasts a full 10 minutes on battery power.

I went to the Apple site and spent at least 20 minutes trying to work out what to do but I am completely unsure of what to do.

Can anybody give me directions on the best way to get this fixed please. I live in the UK.

Thanks

First, go here to see if you qualify for a battery replacement through the recall. You should if your battery is not holding a charge already. If you don't, then you need to get Apple support to replace the battery if it is still covered by Apple Care, which it will not be if it has gone through too many cycles. If neither of those options work, you will have to purchase a new battery. Hope you qualify for the replacement.

Thanks for your help.

I am not eligible for a replacement through recall and I cannot find anything telling me how to find out if I am eligible for a normal replacement, not even an email address.

take a look at this page on the apple website:

Apple - Support - MacBook and MacBook Pro Battery Update

I have just sent my November 2006 battery off to my local Apple Service Center for replacement based on the third bullet in the list.

Hope this helps,
Chisler

As I mentioned in my thread, I basically just made an appointment to see a Genius (find your local store here and click the "Reserve" link under the Genius Bar logo). She was super helpful and understanding and had my battery replaced within minutes. Perhaps you'll have an experience like this too?

It does help if you have AppleCare, as I do, although the battery is not officially covered after 1 year (so the genius told me). I guess it's just up to the person you talk to!
