In my experience, third party chargers and batteries often do more hard than good. They tend to be cheap, unreliable and can even cause damage to components (though that's usually the power adapters). That said, if you can find a reliable review of a certain product and you need to pay less than Apple are asking it might be worth the risk with a battery.
