Hello,
I just bought my first ipod touch. (I'm upgrading from my nano) and I'm only having one issue that I hope I can get some help on. I can't seem to connect to my home wi-fi. It receives signal just fine, but when I go to Safari to it just won't go to any website. Including Google. Any pointers? Thanks in advance ~~JK |

Welcome to TAB. Go to the WiFi pane in the settings and click on the arrow next to your home network. Verify you have received an IP address from DHCP. Also, do any other apps connect to your network? Or is there no connectivity whatsoever?

Oh the connectivity was there, but I couldn't go to any type of web page or even you tube. I still don't know what I did but after more fiddling I got it to work. I'm not usually a dunce when it comes to nifty gadgets like this, but I've it took me at least a day to be able to do more than listen to music or videos I had already downloaded to my ipod from itunes. *shrugs* Now all I fear is if I accidently tell it to ignore the network.

Shot in the dark (assuming you have the correct SSID and Encryption Key) - Is your router set up with MAC (address) filtering? Proxy settings?

Based on the original question and the response, I highly doubt any MAC filtering is set up or any other advanced settings. It was probably just a simple error; something was probably misconfigured in the settings.

Proxy: "a computer network service that allows clients to make indirect network connections to other network services." (thanks Wiki) In other words, instead of your computer going directly to the internet, you are first going through the proxy, which then goes directly through the internet. It allows you to stay "anonymous" while browsing and also gets through some content filters, like those found at schools. Hope this helps ![]()

You don't need to open any ports in the firewall for the iPod Touch to access the internet. Are you getting an IP Address? Find this out by tapping the blue arrow next to the network you connect to. Make sure you are getting something lie 192.168.1.xxx or 10.0.0.xxx and not 0.0.0.0.
