Hello,
I am an American trying to buy my German girlfriend a laptop and I really want to get her one with the German keyboard. Can anyone help me??? Having no luck at all with Google and eBay. (I'd really like to buy it here in American dollars due to the exchange rate) |

Finding one could be tough, especially for MacBooks. Firstly you have to consider that they are all still in warranty and won't be dismantled too quickly. Secondly you have to remember that there is no way to sell just the keyboard as such, the entire top case needs to be sold and fitted which is far more expensive and difficult.
PowerBooks would be a little easier, but you would need to know the exact model as there are tons of different keyboards and they don't all fit each PowerBook (PowerBook and MacBook Pro keyboards are not interchangeable). I can help you with this, but you would need a machine in mind to find a compatible keyboard or vice versa.

Don't listen to would be experts. You can buy a keyboard for apple. there are plenty of suppliers overseas ie. china. also you can check ebay.de or ebay.at which are the German and Austrian ebay sites. I found a new keyboard for the macbook pro for 2 euro the other day. all you have to do is buy a macbook pro in the u.s. with $$ and take it to germany then change the keyboard which is very to do (one connector) and go to system preferences change the language to deutsch and reboot and there you go, everything is in german. good luck
