iWork ‘09 & iWork.com Updated

Written on September 29, 2009 by Liam Cassidy and 4 people have commented

Yesterday Apple released the latest patches to its iWork ‘09 productivity suite, bringing the software up to version 9.0.3. As usual, Apple vaguely mentions improved compatibility and stability in Keynote, Pages and Numbers.
Looking through the detailed listing on Apple’s Support site, it appears that most of the update takes the form of bug fixes and [...]

Theories On a Mac App Store

Written on June 05, 2009 by Chris Ryan and 17 people have commented

Given the runaway success of the App Store (if you haven’t heard, just pick up any newspaper, provided you can find one still being printed), I’ve began to give some thought to the feasibility of a Mac App Store. Does it make sense? Could Apple pull it off? What would it mean for developers and for users?

New iMacs Before The Holidays?

Written on October 20, 2008 by Darrell Etherington and 12 people have commented

Apparently not content with an entirely revamped notebook line, rumors are circulating that Apple will also introduce refreshed 20 and 24-inch iMacs before year’s end. If true, new iMacs would be in keeping with earlier rumors that they would see spec bumps alongside the introduction of the new MacBooks.
While details remain scarce on what specific [...]

While puttering about this morning, I noticed in the notes for Delicious Library 2 – yes, I use it, and yes, I know I don’t really need it – that it prefers 10.5.3.  ‘10.5.3?’ I asked myself.  ‘But that’s not out yet….’
Ah, but Software Update says it is!  Bringing a host of fixes, including the [...]

SiteSucker Updated

Written on May 20, 2008 by Jethro Jones and 2 people have commented

This is a minor update to SiteSucker, but it is a program that I depend on, so I am posting it.
For the uninitiated, SiteSucker is a program that sucks everything (pages, images, etc.) out of a website and downloads it to your hard drive. I use it because I update my school web page at [...]

Waiting for Leopard to change its spots/dots

Written on November 12, 2007 by Bob Rudis and 10 people have commented

Being a long-time Mac user (MS Word on a Mac Plus still beats anything today in terms of writing flow and productivity) and someone who usually dives in head-first on new technologies, I was faced with an agonizing decision on October 26: to install, or not to install Mac OS X 10.5 on my primary [...]

10.4.11 Updates?

Written on September 24, 2007 by Stephanie Guertin and 16 people have commented

With September ending, and Leopard effectively promised for October, the 10.4.11 ‘fix list’ keeps piling up. That I know of right now, it supposedly should cover: CUPS, VPN and L2TP, audio bugs (Core Audio and .m4a), AFP server issues, USB devices, networking fixes (again), BSD and interlock timeouts, and all kinds of ‘enhancements.’
I know [...]

New Airport Extreme/Express update today

Written on August 14, 2007 by Billy Halsey and 46 people have commented

If you’re like me, you’ve had seven (or more) kinds of problems with your Airport Extreme. Maybe today’s update will fix it for you, even though Apple’s description is terse as usual, offering only “general fixes and compatibility updates.”
While you’re at it, don’t forget to pick up last week’s Boot Camp 1.4, which seemed to [...]
